Surface mount truncated domes are mounted directly on to the concrete or asphalt surface. There are some that are mounted with screws and adhesive, and are rigid, and also others that are flexible and have a self adhesive. The self adhesive surface mount truncated domes are the easiest to use for the average person that has not done this before. 

Truncated domes are an ADA requirement at curb cut ramps and where a walkway meets a vehicular way. There are various styles of truncated domes. 1. Cast in place truncated domes: these are set in wet concrete and leave the domes flush with the surrounding concrete 2. Surface Mount Truncated domes: There are bolt down/glue, and there are also self adhesive surface mount truncated domes. 3. Concrete paver truncated domes: These are usually 1'x1' in size and installed in the same way a concrete paving stone would be installed.
